Not Letting Fear Immobilize you!

Too many times, as women, we feel like imposters in our roles in the work environment. We are constantly shown that we are inferior to men, from the lack of pay we receive to the way we are not even considered when senior leadership positions come up.

Sarah and I both realized that in our field if we did not have a doctoral degree no one would take us seriously. Like many of us, we tend to minimize the sexism we encounter. Therefore, we both were determined to complete our terminal degrees. Sarah completed her degree in 2013 and I started my Ph.D. journey in 2014 yes, it is a journey.

Sarah completed her degree and her supervisor at the time saw her expertise and talent and helped promote her twice within their time working together. However, once he retired, Sarah decided to apply for his position, as she had the knowledge and experience to take it on. Unfortunately, not only was she not chosen, she was not even given the opportunity to interview.

It is a reality, women are overlooked in all career fields. Therefore, Sarah and I have set out on this new path to give women their voices back and tell their stories through our podcast and blog!
